Every trainee receives fellowship funding for two years under the DIGI-MAT grant, beginning in their second year and continuing until the end of the third year. Each trainee is expected to participate in an internship in the third year of the DIGI-MAT program. This internship can last three months or longer and trainees select their own internship category (industry, academia or laboratory) and collaborate with their advisor to confirm a location at least six months in advance. The funding (trainee stipend) for the internship is supported by the DIGI-MAT grant at no expense to the internship sponsor.
Each internship opportunity is unique and will look different for each trainee. Trainees partner with their advisor in establishing the right fit for their research and future career interests. We are optimistic that career opportunities will emerge from the networking and experience provided by the DIGI-MAT internship experience.
